In the December issue’s cover story by Greg Akers, VanWyngarden shares stories from his youth — his first experience with an electric guitar and how his passion for music blossomed. He reveals his feelings on the flip from obscurity to fame, the best and worst parts about being famous, and the one musician that caused him to be “star-struck.” He tells how the slow-but-sure success of Congratulations (and touring the album over a year) shaped MGMT into a better, more comfortable live band and how that may change their approach to the next album - in a positive way.
